Media Filming Planning

In January 2017, we decided to plan locations and dates to begin our filming for our short horror film. We arranged where the filming would be, at a local woods where it would be fairly accessible to the whole group. Eastham woods was the final location that we agreed on. Once the location was agreed on, we had to find a date and time that was suitable for everyone in the group, Monday 6th February at 5PM was the date that we all agreed on.

Once Monday 6th February came, we all decided to meet at Christ The King primary school at 5PM, the rain was teeming down, but we still continued and took our equipment into the woods. Once our location was reached, we began to get into place and start filming. After taking some scene setting shots, it became apparent that the environment was far too dark, the people participating in the clip could barely be seen on the camera.

Monday 6th February 5:30PM: Once that we had realised that the area was far too dark to begin filming, we decided to reschedule and go to bidston woods a week later during the daytime.

Monday 13th February: We had now reached bidston woods, the weather was perfect for filming in the woods, it wasn't too dark, but still had a nice shadow from the trees. Once we had all of our clips, we decided to edit the film through adobe after effects to make it appear slightly darker.

Overall, we learned that not everything will go to plan when filming, and that you have to be able to adapt and adjust to any unexpected changes that may take place.
